An Overview of Gymnastics

Gymnastics covers many different disciplines.

All are skilled and challenging and require physical strength, agility and co-ordination. Under the overall description of gymnastics lie the individual disciplines and activities of:

  • Men's artistic Gymnastics (includes high bar, parallel bars, rings, floor, vault and pommel horse)
  • Women's Artistic gymnastics (includes uneven bars, beam, floor and vault)
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics
  • Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics
  • Acrobatic Gymnastics

British Gymnastics provides a national directive and structure for the sport; delivering a range of opportunities across the age spectrum to take part and stay in gymnastics, as well as developing talent and delivering top-level success.

Gymnastics is an accessible and inclusive sport offering opportunities to all ability levels and ethnic groups within a range of controlled learning environments. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and is recognised as forming the basis for physical literacy by developing fundamental movement skills.

Gymnastics Coach/ Qualified Teacher

Essential: British Gymnastics Level 2 minimum or a qualified Teacher.

Positive PE is looking for experienced gymnastics coaches or qualified PE teachers who will bring their caring and creative energy to our team. You will be planning and delivering extra curricular gymnastics sessions with the opportunity to support holiday camps, inter school gymnastics events and to progress into delivery of gymnastics lesson as part National Curriculum Physical Education.

Gymnastics for All Coach

The candidate will be involved in coaching across our Gymnastics for All programme; from Pre-School, to Youth, Adults and Freestyle. The successful candidate will also hold an additional Pre-School coaching qualification, and will be able to demonstrate good communication, problem solving and leadership skills. Our club provides scope for progression through our coaching development and management structures. The candidate will work between 35-40 hours per week from Monday-Saturday.
