About Active Notts

Active Notts, formerly known as Sport Nottinghamshire, is one of 44 County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) covering England.

It provides the strategic lead on sport and recreation across the county of Nottinghamshire and is committed to working with partners to increase the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.

Active Notts is part of Active Partners Trust, a single, legal entity supporting the work through two operating units, in Nottinghamshire and in Derbyshire via Active Derbyshire.

Primarily funded by Sport England, CSPs are networks of organisations working in physical activity and sport, and include: Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Schools, Colleges and Universities, Professional Sports Clubs, Public Health, Charities and Community groups and associations. Nationally, there are 44 established County Sports Partnerships in England. They are led by a core team whose job it is to provide leadership and co-ordination of a network that is focused on physical activity and sport.

Funding for the work of Active Notts is, in the main, provided by Sport England. It is a mixture of revenue funding for the core team and funding for specific programmes to increase participation in sport and physical activity. Active Notts (and partners) work to a national specification agreed with Sport England.

Sport Nottinghamshire, the former name for Active Notts, was established in February 2006 and became part of the Active Partners Trust in October 2017.
