About Nottingham Croquet Club
Nottingham Croquet Club was founded in 1929 at its present location in Highfields Park, opposite the Hockey Centre, Nottingham. As well as hosting national and even international tournaments, the club has an active programme of taster sessions, Open Days, beginners' coaching and community engagement, developing the club into a welcoming and sociable space in the heart of our community. Croquet is one of few sports when men and women can compete on equal terms and we encourage everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion or ability, to play this fascinating game which has proven benefits to both mind and body.
The land where the club is situated was donated to the people of Nottingham by Sir Jesse Boot (of Boots the Chemist fame) for their leisure, recreation and health. More than 90 years later these needs have become more acute, particularly for those suffering from long term health conditions, post-lockdown stress and social isolation.
In 2020 we took over the lease of the redundant greens and pavilion of the adjacent Bowls club that closed about 15 years ago. After an ambitious project to improve these facilities, we can now offer much better facilities making our sport accessible to a greater range of people. We look forward to seeing you on the lawns!
Nottingham Croquet Club is a supporter of This Girl Can, We Are Undefeatable and Let's Talk Loneliness.
