About WALX Leicester East
At WALX Leicester East we offer a fantastic range of activities to help you turn your walk into a workout.
A gentle Wellness WALX can help you improve your flexibility, strength and balance, or just practice a bit of relaxation and mindfulness. Our exercise professionals are qualified to deliver programmes in falls prevention and help improve your posture and stability with exercises that can easily be incorporated into daily life. By building variety and progression into the programme you will improve your health and fitness, reduce stress and overcome physical limitations which may otherwise hold you back.
For something a little more energetic, try a Total Body WALX, aimed at helping you build strength, tone and cardio fitness. Using adapted walking techniques, specific drills and simple pieces of readily available "equipment" (think trees and park benches!) our WALX Masters will devise ways to challenge and improve your fitness and help you lose weight, should that be your goal.
If you simply want to experience more of your local area, and enjoy some time with like-minded individuals, Explorer WALX will fit the bill. Seasonal, scenic, sociable strolls, saunters and strides. We are constantly looking to add variety to your activity. Where possible we include a refreshment break during or at the end of the walk so that you can continue to build relationships and interact with other participants - a great way to make new friendships.
For all of the activities listed above, the use of Nordic Walking poles is optional, but if you want to take your training to another level, engage 85-90% of your body's muscles, build a strong core and burn more calories, adding poles to your exercise is the way to go. To get the most out of your activities we recommend you first enroll on our 90minute Power of Poles course (all equipment provided) to learn about the different types of poles which might suit your lifestyle, and master the basics of pole walking technique. At the end you will be issued with a "passport", allowing you to register for Nordic Walking activities with us and our sister organisations across the UK.
Activities can be booked on a "Pay and Play" or pre-pay basis, or by taking a low-cost monthly direct debit you can sign up for as many sessions as you want, for no extra charge and book one free session per month with any of our sister clubs - perfect for if you are travelling and want to see some of the local area. Further details are available from our website.
Our activities are risk assessed, conducted within current government regulations and have been designated as Covid-19 secure. We can't wait to WALX with you! Programmes suitable for Workplace Wellbeing and Team Building can be put on to suit your requirements, and we offer training for walk leaders and in-house delivery of ongoing programmes where required.
