School Governors and Business Managers from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire schools are welcome to attend a session at either of the venues above.

With over £4.5 million being invested into Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City and £6.5 million into Derbyshire and Derby City in 2018-19 with the possibility of the same for 2019-20 school governors have a key role to play in deciding how the PE and Sport Premium funding is used. Governors should provide check and challenge and support to head teachers to ensure that every school makes the most of this money to create its own sporting legacy.

Each session will include the following workshops and briefings:

Role of the School Governor in maximising the impact of the Primary PE and Sport Premium

The briefing content aims to give primary governors information and advice about how to maximise the impact of the government primary investment in PE and school sport. This workshop will explore how to ensure high quality PE is offered to all students and why it should be the entitlement of every child. It will also expand on accountability measures and pose key questions for governors to consider.

Funding opportunities for schools

An overview of funding pots which schools are eligible to apply for, and hints and tips for a successful bid. Funds covered will include Awards for All, Tesco, Central England Co-op, One Stop Shop and Sport England's Community Asset Fund.

Active Lives Survey: Children and Young People

If selected, your school's participation in the Active Lives Survey Children and Young People is vital in helping us to understand how children engage with sport and physical activity. The data we gather will play a key role in informing future policy on the Childhood Obesity Plan, which funds the School Sport Premium. Find out more about how the survey works and what incentives are available for your school.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To attend, book a free place at your preferred session here: https://tinyurl.com/y65m8raj. Light refreshments will be served during the sessions. Bookings will close on March 20.
