Have you signed up for RED January yet?

The team at Active Notts are supporting RED January, a community initiative encouraging people get active every day this January, to beat the blues away.

We'd love other organisations across the county to sign up too and support their colleagues, friends, families and pets to move just 15 minutes every day during January to improve mental health and wellbeing.

If it's running 5k, or walking to work a new way, a morning swim or taking the bike for a spin we'll be joining the thousands of people around the UK kick-starting their 2019 in the most positive way.

We have some ideas for getting active with our weekly guide below:

Today - get off the sofa with the family and spend 15 minutes getting active with this SuperMovers video

02 January - Back at work? Go for a walk at lunchtime for 15 minutes with your friends and colleagues.

03 January - Climb the stairs...either at home or at work, spend as little as five minutes at a time climbing up and down the stairs for a very intense and efficient workout.

04 January - Christmas sale time! Go shopping, make sure you park a bit further away from the shops though. Walking around a shopping centre keeps you warm and dry during this usually cold time of year.

05 January - Take the kids to a trampoline park before they start back at school. WHy don't you join them on the trampolines? Spending only 5 to 10 minutes on the trampoline is almost equal to running a mile!

06 January - Skip. Play some skipping games with the children or just on your own. Skipping will increase your heart rate for a great short workout.
