Sport England is making up to £1 million available to diversify coaches and volunteers in the sport and physical activity sector.
Their Workforce Diversity Great Ideas Fund will be open for a month, and they want to hear from anyone wanting to engage women and/or BAME communities in volunteering or coaching opportunities.
What is important is that you have a good understanding of the needs of the people in your area that you are trying to connect with and that you, or your partners, are trusted and respected by the people you want to reach.
This fund is not about investing in more of the same things which they know work.
They're looking for potentially game-changing ideas which will help increase the diversity of those who give their time to sport, whilst empowering and upskilling local communities.
Great ideas come in all shapes and sizes – there's no magic formula and therefore they have no expectation of how long the project should be, or how much it will cost.
However, they do know that delivering a successful project, based on insight, audience engagement, with the right partners and learning and evaluating what works, doesn't happen overnight.
You may wish to test an idea for a limited period of time, with a view to learning and scaling in the future.
Or it may be a project which requires other stakeholders and groups. Perhaps you have a great idea which needs a small cash-injection to get started… or maybe you're looking to engage at national level and have extended reach.
Tell them your idea, and they'll go from there.
Applications can be submitted between now and 3 July, with the Sport England team then assessing submissions and contacting selected projects to develop a full application in August and September.
Final decisions on funding will then be made in October and November.
