Resource to help parents and carers keep children and young people active at home is launched

A new programme of activities to help schools support parents and carers to keep children and young people active at home has been launched by the Notts School Games Organiser Network and Active Notts.

School Games Organisers and staff from Active Notts have worked together to create and publish the weekly resource, which will give ideas on how to be physically active with a different sport theme for 30 minutes each day.

It will also link to ideas on how to achieve another 30 minutes each day, to help young people achieve the recommended 60 minutes per day of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity.

The first resource focuses on golf and has been sent to schools by their local School Games Organiser. It is also available at www.activenotts.org.uk/young-people-active-at-home and is being promoted via social media, sports clubs and other organisations which work with young people.

Each pack will contain a schedule of suggested activity challenges for the week and daily activity cards. There will be also be a virtual competition each Friday.

Other sports set to be featured in future weeks include football, tennis, orienteering, athletics, cricket, gymnastics, boccia, netball, and badminton.
